چکیده

In fermented beverages, yeasts have been exploited for many years and are well-known as alcohol producers. Indonesian traditional however, information about microbiology potential bioactive-compounds of rice wine produced by the local people, especially in Lombok, limited. The present study described compounds including yeast species its that biological activity. was isolated using three growth agar media serial dilution, selected colonies molecular identification, performed gas chromatography tandem with mass spectrometry profiling chemical wine. result indicated sold without distillation still contained Saccharomyces cerevisiae main producer. Meanwhile, at least six such l-(+)-Ascorbic acid 2,6-dihexadecanoate, performic acid, octadecanoic sulfurous tetratriacontane, eicosane were detected reportedly related to antimicrobial, antiviral, anticancer, other pharmacological activities. These findings could be first step studies on exploring Indonesian’s bioactive-compound sources health benefits.

Notonyx Guinotae, a New Species of Goneplacid Crab (brachyura, Goneplacidae) from Lombok Island, Indonesia

A new species of goneplacid crab of the genus Notonyx A. Milne-Edwards, 1873, is described from Lombok, Indonesia. The new species, N. guinotae, resembles N. kumi Naruse & Maenosono, 2009, but differs in having a relatively more slender male abdomen, proportionately longer ambulatory legs, as well as male first and second gonopods that are different in morphology. The discovery of this new spec...

Isolation of Bacillus sphaericus from Lombok Island, Indonesia, and Their Toxicity against Anopheles aconitus

Malaria is endemic to Lombok Island, Indonesia. One approach to suppress malaria spread is to eliminate anopheline larvae in their habitat and the environmentally safe agent is bacteria, that is, Bacillus sphaericus. However, there is no information regarding local isolate of B. sphaericus that is toxic to mosquito larvae from Lombok. The aims of the study were to isolate B. sphaericus from soi...

A New Owl Species of the Genus Otus (Aves: Strigidae) from Lombok, Indonesia

The avifauna of Indonesia is one of the richest in the world but the taxonomic status of many species remains poorly documented. The sole species of scops owl known from Lombok has long been assigned to the widespread Moluccan Scops Owl Otus magicus on the basis of superficial similarities in morphology. Field work in 2003 has shown that the territorial song of the scops owls inhabiting the foo...

Molecular identification of yeast species associated with 'Hamei'--a traditional starter used for rice wine production in Manipur, India.

In Manipur state of North-Eastern India, wine from glutinous rice using traditional solid state starter called 'Hamei' is particularly interesting because of its unique flavour. A total of 163 yeast isolates were obtained from fifty four 'Hamei' samples collected from household rice wine preparations in tribal villages of Manipur. Molecular identification of yeast species was carried out by ana...

Bioactive Compounds from the Red Sea Marine Sponge Hyrtios Species

In continuation of our search for drug leads from Red Sea sponges we have investigated the ethyl acetate fraction of the organic extract of the Red Sea sponge Hyrtios species. Bioassay-directed fractionation of the active fraction resulted into the identification of three new alkaloids, hyrtioerectines D-F (1-3). Hyrtioerectines D-F belong to the rare marine alkaloids in which the indole and β-...
